A MUM-OF-THREE has issued a heartbreaking warning to all parents about children playing in the heat wave, after a young child sustained second-degree burns from a garden hose pipe.

Stacy, who runs Daisy First Aid Redhill and CroydonOn Facebook for sharing a photo of a nine-month-old, explaining that many people don’t realize how dangerous hosepipes can be during hot weather.

In 2019, she wrote, “I wanted to cry every time I saw this picture but it’s important to share it.”

“Two years ago, this kid suffered second-degree burns on over 30 percent of his body from being accidentally sprayed with a garden hose and recently firefighters issued a new warning.

“Hoping to prevent this type of accident from happening again, the fire department has warned that a garden hose exposed to direct sunlight during the summer can heat the water inside the hose (not flowing) to 130-140 degrees Fahrenheit. [54-60C] Which can cause burns especially to children and animals.

“Let the water flow for a few minutes to cool before spraying it on people or animals.”

Nicholas Woodger, of Arizona, was sitting in the paddling pool waiting for his mother, Dominic, to fill it when the tragic accident occurred.

But, to her horror, when she splashed her child with water in the hose, a stream of boiling liquid appeared.

Nicholas suffered second-degree burns on 30 percent of his body, but he did not have permanent scars.

Dominic said, “I thought he was crying because he was angry, because he hates it when it gets sprayed in the face. I didn’t think he was burning it.”

“Just be careful. Just touch it before you spray, before you let your kids near it.”

Stacy – winner of the Year at this year’s Family Network Awards – added that not many people would immediately think of the danger, but with temperatures set to hit 37C in London this week, it’s certainly worth remembering. .

And followers were in complete shock at the post, with hundreds revealing they would never have believed it could be such a danger.

One wrote: “Thank you for sharing, I had no idea the water from the hose could get hot.”

While another commented, “Many people would do this without knowing the consequences, and I will share with them until I become more aware.”
