Star Wars is one of the best books Dark Horse has ever published in over 20 years of publication. Based on the first draft of the script for the first Star Wars movie, some very different versions of the characters we all know and love have emerged. And I saw just that when I saw the cover of the first issue. Jean Dursema We handled the artwork here, and the cover is gorgeous. This cover is up for auction at Heritage Auctions Now and on sale for $260 as low as it is at the moment. That’s a really low-key feel for such a fine piece of Star Wars memorabilia. A rare piece of Star Wars for sure

“Jean Dursema” star Wars Original Art Diverse Cover (Dark Horse, 2013). Variant cover licensed adaptation of George Lucas’ draft screenplay for what would eventually become star Wars. This variety cover from Duursema features alternate versions of fan favorites, including Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, as well as unrealized character Ken Starkiller. Graphite on Bristol Board measures 13″ x 17″. Glued paper overlay on top, with light smearing/handling wear. Signed by Duursema at bottom right and in excellent condition. “I love how cool these pencils look on this page. I’m all about the concept art and rough drafts, and this is the final one, if I’m honest. I love the characters in the iconic poses from the original one sheet too. It’s perfect.”
