More than a million Android users have been warned to be on the alert after a popular camera app was banned from the Google Play Store for containing malware.

Google has just removed the very popular PIP Pic Camera Photo Editor, but not before it has been downloaded more than a million times.

Until earlier this week, the photo-editing software was still available for download and installation, but Google blocked access after it was alerted to a vulnerability.

The application was found to contain malware capable of stealing Facebook Credentials, including usernames and passwords.

This could allow hackers to access accounts, steal personal data, and send scam messages to contacts.

Experts advise to immediately delete the app from all your devices if you currently have it installed.

You are also warned not to change your Facebook password without delay.

This threat was discovered by the team at Doctor WebHowever, it is not the only application that raised the red flag for the Russian company for IT Security Solutions.

According to the latest security company ReportThere are four other apps that all contain malware that can display unwanted ads and reduce battery life.

They are said to be able to make unauthorized changes to the phone itself.

In addition, the IT platform, SecNewsIt goes further, saying that an adware infection can cause unwanted ads to constantly appear, user experience deterioration, and device overheating.

Other named apps are Wild & Exotic Animal Wallpaper, ZodiHoroscope, PIP Camera 2022 and Magnifier Flashlight.

According to the cybersecurity platform HackedIn all, the affected apps had more than two million downloads.

Some of these apps have been removed by Google with both ZodiHoroscope and PIP Camera 2022 not available for download.

As with all apps, before you start downloading anything to your device, experts advise checking who developed the software.
