The Pioneer Woman showed off the meals she made based on the items in her fridge. One meal that Ray Drummond was able to make with refrigerator ingredients was Shakshuka. Here’s how to prepare what she calls a “heavenly” meal.
Raid “Pioneering Woman” Ray Drummond on Shakshouka’s fridge
According to Drummond, you can have Shakshuka for breakfast, lunch, or dinner (here are some of Drummond’s best breakfast recipes). What is Shakshouka? Drummond says it’s a North African and Middle Eastern dish. She describes it as tomato sauce with eggs baked in it.
“It’s suitable for everything from breakfast to brunch to brunch to dinner to a midnight snack,” says Drummond On leading women turns out. “It is absolutely unbelievable.”
Making Shakshouka by Ray Drummond
Drummond begins by frying sliced onions with red, yellow, and orange peppers. Then raise the temperature and add the chopped garlic. Cook the vegetables for 2 to 3 minutes, until the edges begin to turn black.
Next, Drummond adds a bowl of cherry tomatoes, a tablespoon of tomato paste, and ground red pepper. Stir the ingredients, then add half a cup of chicken broth.
Drummond also adds cabbage corn so you can include something green in her recipe. She says she loves how the cabbage turns “light green” once it’s mixed with a sauce like this. Drummond lowers the heat and lets the vegetables simmer for 9 to 10 minutes.
final touches
Once the vegetables have finished boiling, it’s time to add the eggs. Drummond cracks six eggs in a bowl and pours them into the vegetable and sauce mixture. Sprinkle salt and pepper on each egg. Next, Drummond puts the lid on the pan and lets the eggs rest for about five minutes.
After five minutes, Drummond removes the mixture from the heat. It does not stir the mixture because it wants the eggs to sit on top of it. Next, Drummond adds feta cheese and crumbled parsley. Complete the meal with a piece of bread.
Health benefits of Shakshuka
If you’re looking for a healthy meal, you can add it to your menu (check out some of Drummond’s best veggie dishes). Shakshuka has a lot of health benefits. Registered Dietitian Dana Angelou White tells us food web Shakshuka is full of antioxidants.
“Most Shakshuka recipes include tomatoes, onions, and peppers,” Angelou says. This veggie-rich one-pot meal is relatively low in calories but packed with fiber and anti-inflammatory antioxidants. The main ingredient is usually canned tomatoes, which have a higher percentage of the antioxidant lycopene than the fresh ones.”

Drummond has a lot of recipes with eggs as one of the main ingredients. Some of her popular egg-based recipes include baked egg pesto, eggs baked in potato nests, and eggs in a hole.
Although eggs in a hole is a simple dish, Drummond says it tastes great. She is a big fan of this breakfast dish. “Sometimes the simplest things taste the best.” Drummond says on her website:. “These delicious little numbers define comfort foods, are painfully easy to prepare, and will turn any stressful, stressful morning into something completely different.”
