4-point shot, new rules that stars love

Chicago The WNBA All-Star Game is going to look a little different this year—and not just because the Four Stars are making their debut.

The league announced that Sunday’s All-Star competition at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago will feature several new rules to increase the pace of play and general excitement throughout the game. Among the most memorable are: no free throws, 20-second shot hours, 4 points.

Teams will only have 20 seconds – a significant drop from the usual 24 second shot clock – to put the ball over the edge. When players are fouled, the points they were normally eligible to earn by free throws will be automatically added up. And if they’re really satisfied with their shot, the All-Stars will be able to earn extra points for sunken shots from four “4-point shot zones” located within 28 feet of the hoop.
