The Packers It seems to be keeping the franchise’s mind trust together for the foreseeable future.
Green Bay has reportedly reached a contract extension with general manager Brian Gutekunst, coach Matt LaFleur and director of football operations Russ Ball this off-season, ESPN’s Ross Dimovsky reported on Monday.
Terms of extensions were not easily provided and Packers chief Mark Murphy did not confirm the deals. However, Murphy said at a meeting with team shareholders on Monday that he was “confident not only Matt [LaFleur] and Brian [Gutekunst] But Ross Paul will remain an employee of the Packers for years to come,” according to Dimovsky.
The three members of the Green Bay leadership group were nearing the end of their contracts as the 2022 season approached. Gutekunst initially signed a five-year contract in 18 that was due to expire after this year’s campaign, while LaFleur originally signed a four-year contract with an option for the fifth year in ’19. Ball has been a member of the organization since ’08 but was promoted to his current position in ’18.
New deals for Gutekunst, LaFleur and Ball were completed earlier this season and before the Packers return to training camp this week, according to ESPN.

The Packers have been among the most dominant regular season teams in the NFL since Gutkunst replaced Ted Thompson, and a 45-19-1 record since 18. LaFleur has been instrumental in that success, going 39-10 and posting the most of wins by an NFL coach in his first three seasons on the job.
Despite Green Bay’s success during the regular season, the franchise has not fully penetrated under the current leadership. The Hazams reached the NFC Championship game twice and lost on the Divisional Tour once, but they have yet to appear in the Super Bowl in the Gutekunst-LaFleur era.
