Rudd is the co-owner of Samuel’s Sweet Shop, and has been for several years now.

His wife, Julie, talked about how she and her husband came to own the sweet shop in an interview. It turns out that everything stems from the death of the original owner of the store.

“When Ira died, like everyone else in town, we thought, What is going to happen to Samuel? We don’t want to lose Samuel. “We moved to upstate New York. The first person I met in this town called Rhinebeck was Ira, and he owned this candy store. He passed away two years ago, and Paul (Rud) and I were friends for a while and we didn’t want him to turn into a juice stand or something. It’s been around since the early ’90s, so we were like, ‘Yeah, let’s get our money together and get a candy store,’ and now we’re the proud owners of Samuel’s candy shop.”
