The MTV VMAs are ready to host and honor some of the biggest musical acts

New York – The MTV Video Music Awards They returned on Sunday with some of the biggest names in music competing for the network’s legendary Moon Person statue.

Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow and Kendrick Lamar are Limiting the main candidates to seven each. Harlow and Lil Nas X’s “Industry Baby” collaboration propelled their nominations, leading them to compete for Artist of the Year alongside Drake, Bad Bunny, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Lizzo.

Harry Styles and Doga Cat are behind, with each receiving six nominations, while Sheeran, Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Tyler Swift, and The Weeknd each have five.

Harlow pulls double duty, Joining LL Cool J and Nicki Minaj as showrunners. The VMAs are being held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and will begin broadcasting at 8 p.m. EST.

Minaj will perform many songs throughout her career and accept the show’s Video Vanguard Award, which MTV said she receives because of her artistry, barrier-breaking hip-hop music, and her status as a global star. This honor is named after Michael Jackson.

Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bad Bunny are also scheduled to feature.

Madonna, the most awarded artist in MTV history with 20 wins, became the only artist to receive a nomination in each of the five VMAs. She earned her 69th nomination for her 14th studio album “Madame X”.

Lamar returns to the VMAs as a nominee for the first time since 2018, with nods for best hip-hop, directing, visual effects, editing and a category known as Video for good, while his songs “Family links” and “N95” vie for best cinematography.
