We are here at Sports Illustrated (Read: the author) They got it wrong last week. If you’ve paid attention to college football over the years, you’ve seen the last week come: matches that don’t look great on their faces can often make us up for something magical. Well, we got that when Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Nebraska all lost on their home soil to the Sunbelt teams. And although Alabama did not lose to Texas, it was close (20-19) to Tide, who came in as a 20-point favorite. It’s been a lot of fun, and hopefully this week’s game (which looks better on face value) will be a great half.

the noon
Georgia (-25) vs South Carolina
The Georgia defense got a Bo Nix in the first week, and we saw how it went. Here, Dogs faces another quarterback, Spencer Rattler, who can also give them the gift of transformations in this game. Georgian Front is so good that we rarely see their databases adequately tested. With Rattler’s ability to throw the ball deep, they might get a bit of a test in this game, but if Carolina’s OL plays the way it has so far this season, probably not.
Oklahoma (-11) vs Nebraska
Welcome to the age of Mickey Joseph (at least temporarily). Nebraska’s first black coach in any sport came out to the sideline after the Huskers began the training session by firing Scott Frost on Sunday. There’s a school of thought that Huskers sporting director Trev Alberts did so to stave off the embarrassment of semi-lame duck Frost who was training for a massive bout with NU followers when competition renewed.
Bordeaux vs. Syracuse (-1.5)
There are plenty of people who felt Syracuse coach Dino Papers was in the hot seat coming this season, despite the fact that AD John Wildhack insisted he wasn’t. Cuse is now 2-0 up, and early returns have shown a lead for a team that has struggled over the past few years. Purdue, who is also looking to gain a foothold this season after excelling in the first week against Penn State at home, comes along.
midday
BYU vs. Oregon (-3.5), 3:30 p.m.
As previously mentioned, Oregon was decimated by the Georgia physical super team in the first week. BYU will also try to play a bully against the ducks, and as Oregon tries to establish an identity in the Dan Lanning era, a victory over the Steel Cougars would have been a great start.
Penn State vs. Auburn, 3:30 p.m.
The Nittany Lions are on a trip back to last year’s tight game at Happy Valley. Both teams boast talented defensive fronts and quarterback positions that straddle the mediocre and frontier experience. Auburn is still fiddling with how her quarterbacks are deployed (she sometimes does at the same time) and struggled to send San Jose State home last week. Sean Clifford of Penn State was founded as a start, and you know what you’re going to get with it. Nittany Lions is feeling just fine for now, although talented new student Drew Allar is waiting in the wings.
night
Mississippi State (-2.5) vs. LSU, 6 p.m.
Mississippi State returns home from its late-night win in Arizona last week to play its SEC opener on Bayou. This is also the first team game for new coach Brian Kelly, whose tenure is off to a rough start. After a tuning game against the South last week, did the Tigers fix the problems that plagued them in their runaway loss to Florida State?
Texas Tech vs NC State, 7 p.m.
The Red Raiders clinched a big win at Houston Stadium last week and hosted the North Carolina State team that continues their treacherous non-conference roster. They escaped from Greenville, North Carolina, with a win over the ECU in the first week. Now Lubbock is next.
UTSA v Texas (-12), 8 p.m.
There would be nothing more Texans than vindicating themselves well in a big game and then losing to a team that – while a legitimate threat – they have to deal with. The Hudson Card is back in the QB base position with Quinn Ewers out long, and the Texas attack features less vertical pass threat without Ewers behind the center. But the Texas defense offers plenty of optimism after its strong showing against Alabama. Part of Texas will “come back” with the same force again this week.
Miami vs. Texas A&M (-6), 9 p.m.
No game has lost its juice more than this one. Case in point: You’ll notice that College GameDay is located in the Appalachian State and not College Station. The premiere pre-game show in the sport will celebrate the team that won last week at College Station in place of the Aggies. A&M hosts a Miami team that wants to find a way to establish itself this season, making a definite statement in this game and sending A&M as a program that is escalating more quickly than the pre-season expectations it has been will just be the thing to do that – which.
Fresno State vs USC (-12), 10:30 p.m.
USC is going to score a lot of points…which is almost guaranteed given what he showed in the first two weeks. The problem is that they will give away a set of points to someone who doesn’t seem to be handing them the ball as they like. USC has had eight takeouts this season (two falter recoveries and six interceptions) and also had several defensive scores in the first week. .
