Dragon House He was leading the Dance of Dragons, the civil war within the Targaryen family. Although the series hasn’t quite reached that point yet, it has begun drawing lines. Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey) made a massive statement in episode 5 of Dragon House Because she decided to turn her back on Rinera. Carrie explains why Aliscent eventually reaches the breaking point with Rainera (Millie Alcock).
Why is Aliscent wearing green?
Reinera and Alicentre started Dragon House as best friends. However, their relationship deteriorates with Alicent’s marriage to Rhinera’s father, Viserys (Paddy Considine), and Rhaenyra lied to Alicent about her uncle. In Episode 5, Alicent attends the wedding of Rhaenyra and Laenor Velaryon (John MacMillan), but she decides to send a message with her arrival.
Not only did she interrupt the king’s speech, she also wore a green dress. Green is the color of House Hightower and the house uses it as a declaration of war. With this color choice, Aliscent tells Rainera that she will support her son, Aegon Targaryen, to take the throne once the king dies, which may be soon. Aliscent makes another strategic decision by enlisting Kriston Cole (Fabian Frankel), whom Reinera despised.
Emily Carey explains why Aliscent finally reached breaking point with Rinera in ‘House of the Dragon’
In Episode 4, Alicent confronts Rhaenyra about a rumor about her and Daemon (Matt Smith). Reinera denies this, even taking an oath on her deceased mother. Aliscent finds out that she has been lying about this and later finds out that she slept with Cole when she denies it. Alicent feels betrayed by Rhaenyra but is also frustrated that she has fulfilled her duty to the kingdom while Rhaenyra does whatever she wants.
In an interview with diverse, Carrie explains how all these different moments led to Aliscent finally turning her back on Rinera and shifting her loyalty towards her family.
“First of all, there’s the betrayal, ‘You lied to me.’ Then Carrie says the betrayal ‘I swear this to my mother’s memory,’ which you see in Episode Two with their shared trauma.” “It’s something that they associate with. I took Alicente Rainera to September and she showed this emotional vulnerability, let her see that part of her that she doesn’t really show to anyone.”
“Then it’s treason,” he said. I slept with him and I love him and you know this. this is not fair. “Aliciente is all about duty, through and through. It’s always duty versus heart with her… I’m glad I was able to show you how angry this woman has become. And I think this scene marked a turning point.”
Carrie doesn’t know what’s going to happen with Aliscent next
While Carrie had a touching moment as Alicent in Episode 5, she doesn’t know what happens to the next character Dragon House. Episode 5 is Carrey’s final performance as Alicent as the role is taken over by Olivia Cooke, who plays an older version. Since the producers wanted to keep everything secret, Carrey never saw any scripts in Episode Five.
“It’s so weird, to have so much freedom and so much ownership of the role, and then not be able to read the rest of the scripts, because they were so secretive,” Carey told Variety.
