Environmental protester sets his arm on fire in Laver Cup Hall

A protester set his arm and an area of ​​court on fire during a match at the tennis Laver Cup event on Friday, briefly delaying the start of the second set between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Diego Schwartzman at the O2 Arena in London.

The activist, who was wearing a white T-shirt with the message “End private jets in the UK” on it, made his way onto the field during a layover in play between Group One and Two. He sat near the net and used a lighter, set fire to a small portion of the black courtyard with his arm.

The protester was eventually executed by security guards. No update was given regarding his safety, although it appears his arm was no longer on fire when he was taken off court.

“A man arrived at court this afternoon and was quickly taken out by security personnel,” Laver Cup said in a statement. per AP. “Play stopped for a while, he was arrested and the police are dealing with the situation.”
