Greg Popovich appoints former WNBA star Candice Dupree as Tottenham coach

As part of a series of movements, the Tottenham Team announced appoints former WNBA star Candice Dupree as a member of the player development team and coach assistant.

Dobre played 16 seasons in the WNBA for five different teams, winning a title with Mercury in 2014. In her career, Dobre was a seven-time All-Star and averaged 14.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. It is currently in the top five in the league’s history in terms of points, matches played and field goals.

Retiring in the wake of the 2021 season, Dobre first joined Tottenham’s summer-league coaching staff in the 22nd season. The former striker played for some great coaches in her career, without Staley while attending Temple to long-time WNBA coach Sandy Brundello.

The last former WNBA star to be hired by Tottenham as an assistant was Becky Hammon, who recently won the WNBA title as head coach of the Las Vegas Aces.
