Speaking now before the launch of The Tonight Show, Helen said, “I just wanted to do something fun.

“It was a good opportunity for my family to see me smile and it was such a fun adventure.

“Anyone with anything to do with Strictly will say, makeup artists are the best, the costumers are the best, the set designers are the best, the dancers are the best.

“Why wouldn’t you want to do something where everyone is literally at the top of the game and they love what they do?”

Helen is now training to take care of her three children, Ernie, seven, Louis, five, and baby Elsie.

This means that she is especially eager to enjoy the pampering on offer.

She laughed, “I have three kids under seven, he’s a very energetic dog, and I’ve lived in a home renovation for three years, so be careful please.

“It takes me back to the days of Blue Peter, it was such a hard show that you were doing something for him every minute of the day. I had arrived at the office after being away for three weeks and someone had gone to your house to pack your bags to go on your next trip .

“I feel like this would be consuming too, but I’ve lived that life before and naively think I might be ready for it.”

Celebrity friends Dan Walker and Ori Udoba told Helen that she could call them at any time.

She has a bit of previous dance experience to come back to.

Helen said, “Ore still talks about a transformative experience in his life, it makes me laugh, all these years and he still talks about it! Dan said it was the most fun for him ever.”

“When I was a kid I used to dance tap dancers, but that’s it.

“Slow, calm, thoughtful, thoughtful dance is not me.”

She added of her signature move, “It was splits for a long time, then I ruptured my hamstrings and haven’t been able to do it since!”
