1. If you hate the Yankees, and I know many of you do, you will enjoy this story.
With Aaron Judge sitting in 60 home games chasing the Roger Maris franchise and a 61-time MLS record, fans wanting to see the Yankees hitter in action will have to turn to Friday night’s game via AppleTV+.
The New York vs Boston match will not be broadcast domestically at the New York Market. The game will only be available nationwide via AppleTV+.
according to New York PostAndrew Marchand, the Yankees are not happy with this. Marchand reports that the Yankees have asked MLB and Apple To allow YES to broadcast the game locally in New York.
So far, Apple said no. And good for Apple. Why should Apple, which paid MLB $85 million for an exclusive Friday Night package, give up the most anticipated game of the season just to help the Yankees? However, the Yankees’ arrogance in asking Apple to allow YES to stream the game is not shocking.
These are the same greedy Yankees who despise their fans so much that they took 20 free-to-air TV games for decades and sold them to Amazon Prime Video, forcing their fans to pay to stream these 20 games, while fans already said they pay for cable to get on the YES network.
It’s a delicious development that the Yankees, worth $7 billion, went for completely unnecessary streaming cash by selling 20 games to Prime Video and may now be losing their most valuable game in years to MLB’s streaming package.
It also shows that while everyone wants to tell you that streaming games is no different than watching games via cable, this is clearly not true. The Yankees made no effort to get their Thursday night game, which was broadcast locally on Fox, on the YES Network.
The Yankees know that Friday night’s audience will be very limited.
YES has enjoyed massive reviews for its recent broadcasts as fans have continued to follow Judge’s Home Run,
And now the Yankees will miss the opportunity to draw another massive crowd on Friday because YES doesn’t have the game.
But this isn’t about live streaming, Apple TV+, or ratings. This is about Yankees hypocrisy.
When they were taking Amazon Prime money and denying fans 20 free games, streaming was great. But now that streaming has left out a game that would attract huge ratings on cable, the Yankees are trying to maneuver their way.
Now, this Yankees are going to be making statements about trying to get their Friday game on YES for the fans, but only a complete and total idiot would believe them.
2. Many people thought the judge got a number 61 Thursday night when he hit this bullet.
However, the only person who was not fooled was the legendary 84-year-old John Sterling, who shot volleyball perfectly since the second left bat on New York’s WFAN Radio.
