Deion Sanders has quickly become one of the most in-demand coaches in college football with programs already beginning to transition from their current program leaders in 2022. Jackson State The coach has established himself as a strong recruiter at HBCU and has a 19-5 field record, which has led to his name growing alongside some notable careers in the sport.
For Fox Sports Analyst Joel Clatt, Coach Prime’s next logical stop in the coaching career is Auburn.
“When I look at Auburn, the only way to get to where they expect it to be is to win some recruiting battles. And think of some coaches who have to compete with them to win some recruit battles. It’s going to be very difficult,” Clatt said day next round Monday. “For me, that is the first and most important criterion for your next coach at Auburn.
“Can you go into any living room in America and win recruit battles and for me, these are Deion Sanders. That’s why I think Dion will be the next coach at Auburn.”
Clatt continued by saying that he had no inside information on the matter and that he was only speculating about a future partnership between Auburn and Sanders. However, the idea of Coach Prime making room for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) isn’t entirely out of reach.
The relationship between Auburn and current football coach Brian Harsin is said to be in full swing. Last week, Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman suggested Harsin be fired if the Tigers don’t beat the Missouri.
Auburn held onto her SEC opponent and improved to 3-1 on the year, but the win did not inspire confidence in the team’s direction.
Despite being only in his second season at Auburn, Harsin had a tough time trying to build momentum within the program. The athletic department even investigated Harsin last year, but ultimately chose to keep him for 2022.
Prior to the season, Harsin described the investigation as “uncomfortable” and “baseless”.
Meanwhile, Sanders shot Jackson State on all cylinders during his first four games of the season. The FCS started racing from 4 to 0 and seemed well positioned to make another round of the Celebration Bowl under Coach Prime.
