Katy Perry has come under fire for the “vile” lyrics in her “disturbing” song about Jeffrey Dahmer.
The pop singer found herself under fire after shooting a documentary series on Netflix about the notorious killer.
Released on September 21, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is a true crime drama that exposes how Milwaukee cannibals murdered seventeen boys and men between 1978 and 1991.
The show has brought new attention to the infamous life of the serial killer, and has prompted some fans to reconsider a controversial theme song from 37-year-old Katy Perry, Dark Horse.
The song features a rap verse written by Juicy J, in which he sings: “Ah, she’s a monster. I call her vine.”
“She eats your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer.
The gruesome font refers to the horrific cannibalism of the killer.
But many fans now say the lyric goes too far.
“Why wouldn’t anyone call out Katy Perry to allow such a despicable and horrible lyric to be included in one of her hit songs?” asked one on Twitter.
“Jeffrey was a notorious serial killer and Katie chose to romanticize his criminal and inhumane actions. I actually feel sick to my stomach. She needs an apology.”

“Too bad”
Another wrote: “I still get annoyed when I hear the line in the song Dark Horse… I always make my daughter shut down the station.
“It is very disrespectful to the families of the victims.”
But not everyone agreed that Katie’s song was offensive.
One wrote: “It’s just words, much worse has been said in songs.”
Meanwhile, others have referenced Keisha’s music video Cannibal, which also refers to Dahmer.
Keep calm
Katie, who plays the judge on American Idol, has been performing as the Dark Horse during her recent concerts, including her stay in Las Vegas.
But she has yet to appear on stage after the release of the Netflix show, in which Evan Peters stars as the infamous killer.
Neither Katie nor Josie J has made any public statements about the song amid the backlash.
This isn’t the first time a California pop sensation has found itself in hot water.
She has previously faced accusations of sexual misconduct, and came under fire in 2018 when she stole a kiss from 19-year-old American Idol contestant, Benjamin Gillies.
