LAPD suspected of shooting rapper BNP rock

Los Angeles — Los Angeles police Wednesday identified the suspect in the fatal shooting of rapper BNP rock and warned that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

The Philadelphia artist, whose real name was Rakim Allen, was shot and killed on September 13 in a South Los Angeles restaurant while dining with his girlfriend. Investigators said a thief approached their table and asked for things from the rapper.

“Freddy Lee Troon has been identified as the individual involved in the murder of Rakim Allen,” police said in a statement. He must be considered armed and dangerous. If you see it, we urge you to call 911 for immediate assistance.”

In the days after the shooting, police said investigators believed a social media post may have exposed the attacker to Rock. Rock’s girlfriend posted on the site and tagged the rapper in an Instagram post that has since been deleted.

Police said the thief took some items from the victim and ran away in a car that was waiting in a parking lot. No one was injured in the shooting and Rock was pronounced dead in hospital.

Rock is best known for his 2016 song “Selfish” and for guest appearances on other artists such as YFN Lucci’s “Everyday We Lit” and Ed Sheeran’s “Cross Me” with Chance the Rapper. His last song “Luv Me Again” was released on September 2.
