LeBron James He caused waves online when he asked if he qualified in another college sport besides basketball in A tweet Saturday. Although it sounded fun, the topic gained some steam on Sunday when Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith responded on Twitter with an explanation and invitation.
“If you’ve never enrolled full-time in college and haven’t competed in the sport you want to play after graduating from HS, your eligibility may still remain,” Smith said in a tweet. “If you are a professional in one sport, you can still be considered an amateur in another. I would love to help you!”
James, a native of Ohio, is a fan of the Buckeyes and played with wide reception in high school. He would go on to pursue basketball professionally and skip college, so James was meeting the standards set by Smith.
At 37 years old, James is probably still one of the best college athletes to ever play.
