Aaron Judge finally made his 61st home run of the season on Wednesday, ending a week of fruitless batting and tying Roger Maris with the most hosts in a single season in MLS history. Many were curious to see which of the fans would end up ripping up the prized souvenir, but in the end, the ball fell below the left stands at Rogers’ center and landed in the Blue Jays Bullpen.
In the end, it ended up in the hands of Toronto coach Matt Bushman. From there, the story takes a turn toward marital strife.
Bushman’s wife is Sarah Walsh, who covers NFL and soccer for the Fox. Upon getting word that Bushman ended up with a potentially valuable ball, Walsh took to Twitter to announce her “retirement,” noting that she was currently at the couple’s Florida home dealing with Hurricane Ian.
That feeling dissipated moments later, when it was revealed that Bushman had given the ball over so it could head to the Yankees. Walsh, to put it mildly, was not pleased with his decision.
“Wonderful. He just brought it back without checking to see if our house is still here?” Walsh wrote. “I would then like to announce our divorce.”
For Bushman’s sake, let’s think happily and say she’s acting laughing. Anyway, it’s a safe bet for the former big-league player to have the conversation waiting for him when he gets home.
