Michigan Assistant coach Mike Hart was taken off the field after falling on the sideline early in Saturday’s game in Bloomington.
In the first quarter competition between the Wolverines and the Hoosiers, Hart fell to the ground after the Indiana touchdown, driving a medical cart to make way for the Michigan sidelines. The 36-year-old assistant was loaded onto a cart and walked off the field during a layover in play.
As Hart lay while being transported, he gave a thumbs up to the crowd. He was responsive and attentive as he was led into the locker room, According to Anthony Broom of On3.
Michigan did not give any further information about Hart’s situation until early Saturday afternoon.
Michigan players and staff were noticeably shocked after the incident. Full-backs Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards looked particularly upset about what happened when the broadcast showed others trying to rest the ball carriers on the sidelines.
Hart, Michigan running coordinator and running coach, is in his second year with the Jim Harpo Program. He previously played for the Wolverines and was named a first-team All-Big Ten player three times.
