Could Davante Adams Really Go To Prison? Collapse!

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has filed criminal charges against him for pushing a photographer in Kansas City. Here’s what that means:

Adams was charged with a misdemeanor assault under the city ordinance, per police. What this means is that the photographer chose to pursue the charges.

This offense is punishable by a maximum of 180 days in prison, and a fine of up to $1,000.

Given the resources and financial support Adams has at his disposal, it would be surprising to see him spending any time behind bars. Even if he defied the odds, that sentence could be softened or carried over until the end of the season, most likely.

Davant Adams accuses: What do they mean

An opinion piece by Mike Florio Pro Football Talk This fact is well explained:

“Here’s the truth. Adams wouldn’t spend a day in jail. Even if he took the case all the way to trial and lost, he’d be on probation, a suspended sentence, or something other than being required to spend a minute behind bars. The charges were filed because the victim started the process. If /When (when) Adams and the victim reach a settlement with respect to the civil claims, it is likely that the criminal case will be resolved with the least penalty, if any.”

The criminal process will surely be a pain for Adams, especially as he will have to deal with some of the fallout from his actions during the season. However, the most pressing concern is how the NFL deals with this issue.

Adams could theoretically be fined or suspended for his actions. Many throughout the NFL scene are calling for this, with Raiders’ wide receiver admitting it brought the photographer out of frustration. Although he apologised, his actions were not justified.

“I want to apologize to the guy, there was someone running off the field, and he ran, like he jumped in front of me, and he jumped off the field and I hit him, and he kind of pushed him, and he ended up on the floor,” Adams said in a postal game to his locker. “So I wanted to say to him sorry for that because that was just frustration mixed in with him as he literally runs away from me. I shouldn’t have responded that way, but that’s how I responded at first. So, I want to apologize to him for that.”

He went on to apologize on Twitter, but that tweet has since been deleted.
