How to fix the stuck in Yggdrasil bug in God of War Ragnarok!

Yggdrasil, “The World Between Realms,” is basically a compelling loading screen in God of War Ragnarok. Every time you use the Mystic Gateway to travel from one world to another, you have to travel to Yggdrasil first, running in a circle while your PlayStation loads the world of your destination. Once loaded, a new Mystic portal will appear, through which you can pass to the next world. However, for some players, the mysterious portal they need to get out of Yggdrasil never appears, and they end up stuck there. This can happen at any point in the game, but seems especially common during the goal of old friends, for some reason.

What to do if you get stuck in Yggdrasil in God of War Ragnarok

The first thing to try if you get stuck in Yggdrasil, as with most bugs and glitches in God of War Ragnarok, is to reboot from the last checkpoint. This was enough to fix the problem for some players. If that fails, load autosave or manual save, and try the obscure portal again. This might not work the first time you try it, but many players report success after trying it a few times. It can also help to restart the game completely – again, try it a few times – or even restart your PlayStation. If after several attempts restarting does not help, try closing it completely, then start it. Sometimes this can be more effective in clearing problems than just a reboot.

If you’re still unlucky, or if it’s late in the evening and near bedtime, the most effective way to fix the stuck issue in Yggdrasil is to uninstall God of War Ragnarok, then reinstall it from scratch. This won’t delete what’s saved, so you won’t lose your progress, but downloading it again will take several hours, which is why this is a good bedtime option.
