Remedy announces Control sequel for more telekinetic action and spooky mysteries!

Control fans of 2019 seem to have a lot to look forward to in the not-too-distant future. After dedicating a fair bit of PR to Alan Wake’s upcoming sequel and releasing the original on the Nintendo Switch, Remedy Entertainment has finally lifted the lid on its follow-up to the mystery-adventure game.

News of the game has been weak on the ground since Remedy’s investor update in the summer, which gave a tight nod toward both the sequel and the planned episodic multiplayer element. But in Announcement on her site todayRemedy revealed some tantalizing details. The company has once again partnered with 505 Games to co-develop and co-publish Control 2 – formerly known by its pseudonym Codename Heron – and is looking to release the game on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The game has a budget planned It is €50 million, about 1.5 times Control’s original budget, and is currently still “in the concept stage”, according to Remedy.

On social media, Remedy has treated fans to a conceptual piece of art that showcases some familiar equipment from the Federal Bureau of Control, along with what looks like a bunch of humans possessed by hiss floating through the air. Interestingly, the scenery appears to be outside, visible through a window, as evidenced by what appear to be street lights, trees, and natural sunlight flooding the area. This small detail opens up the possibility of Hiss escaping into the entire world and perhaps provides a glimpse into the scale of Control 2’s story and gameplay. In fact, with the bigger budget given to its development cycle this time around, Control 2 might see protagonist Jesse Faden escape the confines of an older home and take the fight to the streets of New York City.
