Prime Ministers have hosted Children’s Independence Day parties three times before, during the years 2017-2019, and for the first time it was organized in honor of Finland’s centenary.

However, the festivities have been canceled over the past two years due to covid.

The Prime Minister’s Office is planning the ceremony, together with the Mannerheim Child Welfare Association and the Children’s Ombudsman’s Office.
