One of the first “bad guys” players will encounter in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are groups of Houndours that will try to kill you and your new Legendary Pokémon. Although they are often portrayed as villains in most of the games they appear in, there is just something about them that makes players want to catch them. Who wouldn’t want to catch a powerful fire-type dog? Well, we definitely want one on our team, and you do too if you’re reading this. So, to help you get one of the coolest Pokémon in franchise history, here’s where to find Houndour in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
How to catch Houndour in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Pokédex aren’t that generous when it comes to details about the location of the Houndour. On the map below, you can see that the Houndour can be found either next to the Baku Trail Lighthouse or in District Four. What the Pokédex does not specify is that you will most likely not find the Houndour on the plains of Palea. You will find them in the caves.
A simple way to find the Houndour in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is to head to the back of the Paco Path lighthouse, from the front, and hop to the beach where you first found Koraidon or Miraidon. Enter the cave where the legendary Pokemon fought a lot of Hound. This is the perfect place to find Pokemon, as it can be found at this location at any time. It is a breeding ground.

If you’ve already advanced a bit with the story and the game, all you have to do to catch the Houndour in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is throw a Pokéball at it. In this cave, it will most likely be level 5. Since its level is so low, you can easily grab it without harming it beforehand.
