Where to find Chien-Pao in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet!

Chien-Pao is one of the four legendary Pokémon that you can find in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It will be held behind one of the four shrines in the Baldia district. You can add this Pokemon to your collection, but before you do that, there are some requirements you’ll need to meet in order to try and fight it. Here’s what you need to know about where to find Chien-Pao in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to catch Chien-Pao in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Before you can attempt to fight against Chien-Pao, you will need to make your way around the Paldea region and remove the ominous yellow hazards. You can find them all over the region, and there are eight of them. Once all eight have been removed, the seal holding Chien-Pao’s back will open, and you can now visit his shrine to face him in combat.

You’ll need to travel as far west as West Province One. You will find the yellow shrine among the hills. We recommend doing this after you learn how to climb the walls. When you arrive, as long as you find every yellow stake, you should be able to open the door and fight off Chien Pao, adding them to your collection. Chien-Pao is a dark and icy Pokemon. It will be weak against Fire, Fighting, Bug, Rock, Steel, and Fairy moves, but resistant to Ice, Ghost, and Dark attacks. She will be immune to psycho-type moves.

You’ll want to make Chien-Pao as weak as possible to try and catch him. We recommend relying on Ultra Balls for the majority of the match. In addition, be sure to avoid using martial-type moves. This is a critical weakness for Chien-Pao, and she could potentially undo it in one fell swoop. However, if it falls in battle, it returns to its shrine, and you can try to catch it again.
