How to fix ‘stuck on loading screen’ error in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight!

Dragons don’t seem to fly very well in the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion. While a few people are able to stay online without issues, a large portion of the player base experiences disconnects that end up being trapped in a loading screen that ends with “world server down” before being returned to their character’s screen. Repeated login attempts end with a stuck loading screen that never finishes loading. Here’s what we know about how to fix it.

World server down Error in Dragonflight

Blizzard is aware that there are a lot of failed login attempts currently in Dragonflight. They are investigating, and hopefully a solution will be found soon. Right now, players who encounter this error have no other way to fix it than to throw themselves at the login server over and over again in hopes of a different outcome.

The error is likely on the Blizzard servers and has nothing to do with the player’s computer or the game files whatsoever. Updating the drivers didn’t seem to change anything, nor did turning off add-ons. Some popular streamers are even experiencing the error. Currently connected players are also experiencing issues with boats going to The Dragon Isles not arriving or having an unknown arrival time.

This is not new or unique to the World of Warcraft launch. Most populated servers have problems upon launch, and usually the best course of action is to just take a breath, walk away, and let it resolve naturally. Players looking to prepare can best learn dragon talents while leveling up while monitoring the status of their server.
