Can you play Battle for Olympus with friends in Overwatch 2? Answered!

Overwatch 2’s Battle for Olympus mode adds a new deathmatch twist to the game. If you want to see modified Ultimates and abilities in this time-exclusive mode, you’ll need to go into Arcade mode while it’s active. However, some people are having problems playing with friends. Can Battle for Olympus be played in a party in Overwatch 2?

Unfortunately, because Battle for Olympus is just a different experience to the already standard deathmatch mode in Overwatch 2, you can’t enter it with anyone else in your party. It’s just a one-on-one experience, and this condition is put in place so people don’t jump into games with their friends and boost each other’s scores. However, Overwatch 2 is more fun when playing with your friends, so if you have a group to play with, you should probably leave the event because you want to play with them.

All of this would be a little easier if Battle for Olympus was put into custom games, so you could create your own matches. Unfortunately, as of this writing at least, there is no way to play Battle for Olympus in custom matches, which means the only way to access this new game mode is in Arcade, where the solo queue is in effect.

Since Battle for Olympus is a limited-time mode that’s supposed to be fun, hopefully Blizzard will patch in a quick fix that will allow players to queue up with friends or, at the very least, play the mode in Custom. If everyone is so concerned about the safety of a two-week mode that grants characters new powers, the latter option makes more sense.
