How crafting and upgrading works in Forspoken!

Crafting systems are commonplace in almost every game nowadays which is why it is not surprising to see the mechanic appear in Forspoken. Although crafting is not essential for the game, it can very well save your life by allowing you to get additional potions. Besides crafting, Frey has access to multiple upgrades that she can apply to her equipment. Applying these upgrades can help you survive the harsh environment of Athena. This guide will show you how the crafting and upgrade systems work in Forspoken.

How to craft items in Forspoken

It takes some time before you can access the crafting system in the game. When you make your way out of Sybil, you will come across Olivia. She will introduce you to the crafting system at a nearby crafting station. Crafting stations like these can be found all over Athens. After interacting with a crafting station, you will have two options; craft and upgrade.

Select the craft option to bring up a list of all the items you can craft. You’ll start out with some crafting recipes but can learn more by completing quests around the world. When you select an element it will show you the resources required to make it below the element image.

If you have the required materials, press and hold the button indicated above the image of the item to craft it. Crafted items will automatically appear in your inventory. Resources to craft and upgrade items can be found all over the world. Some regions offer specific resources, so be sure to pay attention to where they can be found.

How to upgrade your equipment in Forspoken

Upgrading your equipment is as simple as crafting items, but may require different materials depending on which upgrade you apply. After selecting the upgrade option from the crafting menu, select the item you wish to apply an effect to. At first, you will only have a cloak available.

After selecting a piece of gear, you will be shown how many effect slots the item has. Choose an effect slot and you’ll see what effects can be applied to it. Each effect requires the application of different materials. For example, to add a health bonus to Mantle, you need Balm Flax. You can change an upgrade at any time by selecting an effect slot and applying a different effect.
