Tips and strategies for beating Altered Aiolornis in Forspoken
Altered Aiolornis is the first global chief of aviation you encounter. As such, only specific skills and magic would be practicable in throwing this large bird from a distance, as it would rarely land on the ground for a fair fight. This boss is a modified version of Aiolornis’ standard and shares his strengths and weaknesses. Fortunately, her primary weakness is purple magic, Fry’s first set of Earth elemental spells.

Although this boss appears much later in the story than Altered Mylodon, it’s much less complicated to take on a creature. Fire magic and some other late-play spells focus on melee, so sticking with Frey’s default spell set, Purple, is what we recommend. We suggest you level up Scatter shot Go to the third level before trying to catch this monster, as it is the only attack spell that can reach this bird while it is in flight.
Fortunately, Altered Aiolornis only has three basic combat maneuvers. The most common attack they will use against you is the divebomb attack. It’ll fly very far, then flash red before diving right in your face at great speed. When you see the bird fly away, be ready to use dodge and dodge left or right and avoid this attack. After two passes, they will switch to a new attacking pattern. The second attack will make the bird hover overhead. When you see the creature flashing red, it will flap its wings towards you and hit you with a gust of wind or wings directly.
When Aiolornis flaps its wings, it’s time to mount and lay down the Scatter Shot spell as it attacks you away from the wings. This will do a huge amount of damage. After it sustains a set number of attacks, it will fall to the ground, allowing you to attack close range. Before they fly into the sky again, they will try to peck you with their beak, so avoid standing right in front of them until you take them off again.
Follow this pattern until Altered Aiolornis is defeated. Be aware of the environment while you’re in the thick of a fight because this creature will return to its original nest and begin to recover if you get too far.
Where to find the location of Altered Aiolornis in Forspoken
The Altered Aiolornis isn’t a creature you’ll encounter until you’re in Chapter 4, on your way to fighting Tanta Scylla. You can find them nested in the castle area, which is where the purple mark is in the map pictured below.
Find and hunt this creature to earn rare materials and experience points for Frey. This also gives you some breathing room, as it can be difficult to explore this area when this bird is always on the hunt.
