Is Melmetal good, and how to best use it in Pokémon Go!

There are a few legendary Pokemon that you can encounter in Pokémon Go, and Melmetal is one of them. You can find the starting form, Meltan, when you open the Mystery Box, which spawns during specific times in the mobile game. You can evolve Meltan into Melmetal once you earn enough candy, turning it into a powerful steel Pokemon. What makes this Pokemon a good choice? Here’s what you need to know about the best way to use Melmetal in Pokémon Go and if it’s a good idea.

The best way to use Melmetal in Pokémon Go

Melmetal is a type of steel. It will be weak against Fighting, Fire, and Ground moves, but resistant to Bug, Dragon, Fairy, Flying, Grass, Ice, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock, and other steel moves. Due to the number of unique attacks it can counter, Melmetal is challenging to take down, but exceptionally weak against any fire, melee, or ground-type attacks your opponent might use against you.

If you cast Melmetal on your team, protection against any potential Fire, Fighting, Ground, or Pokémon-type attacks is essential, which means teaming it up alongside specific Pokémon, such as Ghost, Rock, Water, or Psychic types. The types of Pokémon you team up with Melmetal will depend on what Pokémon Battle League you participate in, and Melmetal can participate in many unique types.

For example, if you use Melmetal in the Great League, Noctowl, Trevenant, Pelipper, Medicham, Mantine, Pidgeot, or Altaria would be good choices. When you participate in the Ultra League, we recommend that you add Pidgeot, Regirock, Swampert, Aurorus, Tapu Fini, Jellicent, or Walrein to team up with her. Finally, if you participate in the Master League, some good options to use alongside Melmetal include Dragonite, Slgaleo, Mamoswine, Zarude, Swampert, Hydrigon, Garchomp, or Ursaluna, to name a few.

What makes Melmetal such a great Pokémon is that it can regularly participate in all of these tournaments, which means you’ll want to have several of them in your collection. It may take time to build them up, but they are worthwhile options for you in Pokémon Go.

To properly elevate Melmetal, the best movesets to teach are the fast move Thunder Shock, the superpower charged moves, and the Double Iron Bash. There are a few other charged attacks that Melmetal can learn, but these are the ones that work the best.

Is Melmetal any good in Pokémon Go?

Melmetal is an excellent Pokémon game, and we can’t recommend it enough for any trainer to use if they’re competing in the Great League, Ultra League, or Master League PvP classes. You may also want to save one of the more unique cups, such as the Fantasy Cup.

Melmetal will also be a highly recommended option for any PvE encounters, which means using it on raids against powerful Pokémon or when fighting Team Rocket.
