Adam Handling has been crowned the Great British Menu champion of 2023.

The talented chef has joined a fabulous line-up of former winners which includes Lorna McNee and Cochran, as well as last year’s champion Spencer Metzger.

There was serious difficulty among the judges in choosing the winner, with Adam, Tom and Nick each scoring perfect scores in the final, and essentially clinching a three-way tie.

However in the end, Adam’s Beano-themed food fight desert was picked as the most impressive, with a delighted Adam declaring he was ‘really proud to take Scotland to the banquet.’

It comes after nine weeks of tough competition, which revolved around the theme of animation as the nation celebrates 65 years of Paddington Bear.

The finale proved a nailbiter as the aspiring chefs went all-out, expertly playing along with the theme with Beano, Bob The Builder, Banksy and Ben and Holly-themed sweet treats.

Each of the judges were impressed by the dishes, with Danielle – even as she was named in last place – told she should ‘still have your head held high.’

Mark and Avi clinched joint fourth place, with Gemma coming in third and Will in second place.

It proved Adam’s third time lucky, with 2023 his third time taking part in Great British Menu, and has finally made it to the banquet, and he gave out a delighted ‘Finally!’ as he was announced the winner.

Adam has previously won an abundance of awards including Scottish Chef of the Year, British Culinary Foundation’s Chef of the Year and Restauranteur of the Year.
