You will encounter many side quests as you progress through your Dredge fishing adventure, and these quests will have you scouring uncertain waters in search of many strange and unusual fish. In the quest Recording Rarities for the Traveling Merchant, they will ask you to collect four fish for them and bring them back. Here’s what you need to know about how to complete the Recording Rarities quest in Dredge.

How to catch all the rare fish in the Recording Rarities quest in Dredge

There will be four fish that you need to catch in this mission. You need to catch Oarfish, Gulper Eel, Goliath Tigerfish and Coelacanth. It is important to note that these fish require a unique fishing rod for each fish. If you don’t have access to this fishing rod, we recommend holding off on this quest, but knowing where to find these fish will come in handy as you progress through the game.

Where to catch Orfish

You can find Oarfish in the Gale Cliffs area in the southeastern part of the map. This particular fish is very difficult to track down, but you can find it behind a waterfall in the far southeastern region. Continue through the waterfall, and you will find a place where you can try to catch an Oarfish. You will need a fishing rod for this fish.

Where to catch Gulper Eel

For the Gulper Eel, you will need to travel to the southwest area, the Stellar Basin, an area that is being attacked by a large creature residing in the middle of the small islands. You’ll want to steer clear of this location, but head to the northeast, near the Research Outpost, and you’ll be able to find a Gulper Eel spawn near the trench leading to the center. You will need a Hadal fishing rod to catch the Gulper Eel.

Where can you catch Goliath Tiger Fish?

Goliath Tigerfish is located in the northwest area of ​​the Dredge, on the Twisted Strand. There are many twists and turns throughout the three area, and your goal is to reach the northern area, where there is a small area that looks like a sugar cane, and you must find Goliath Tiger Fish spawn in this area. You will need a mangrove fishing rod to catch this fish.

Where do you catch coelacanths?

When searching for Coelacanth, it’s time to make your way to the northeast area of ​​the map, to the Devil’s Spine hub. Unfortunately, to get to the location where you can hunt for Coelacanth, you’ll need to get an explosive to destroy a rock wall to get to it. Similar to Oarfish, you will need a fishing rod that can be used for Abyssal fish.
