Pokémon Go throttles Remote Raid Passes by increasing prices, adding a daily cap, and providing more in-person rewards!

Pokémon Go players have been waiting for Niantic to take more dramatic steps to move away from Remote Raid Passes, and the day has come. The overall prices for these items have gone up across the board. To drive the nail further to discourage players from using them, Niantic has increased rewards for players who personally participate in these raids, making finding them in the player’s local area even more rewarding. This moves in the opposite direction of community feedback, with many players saying they actively use it to engage in these challenging in-game activities.

has been announced The official Pokémon Go blogwhere the team shared that the prices of the three packages of the Remote Raid Pass will rise to 525 PokéCoins, the value of a single purchase will rise to 195, and there will now be a three-pack Premium Battle Pass purchase in the game store Players who complete character raids will get more Candy XL rewards.

These changes have been hinted at for some time, and fears of a daily cap are becoming real. It was initially leaked when the creator behind the Pokémon database site Serebii, Joe Merrick, shared an image showing that he had a set amount of Remote Raids available for that day. The limited raid message was gone, but it gave the community plenty of time to prepare for these restrictions, but not for a price change.

Niantic initially introduced remote raid lanes in response to the worldwide COVID outbreak and various restrictions seen across countries. These items were an instant hit, making it more accessible for the average player to participate in the more difficult raids, especially for players who had a hard time finding groups in their community.

Over the past year, Niantic has been trying to slowly pull back from these raids. Public reception for this pick has been decidedly negative, but with today’s prices high, it appears that Niantic is tough on their vision for Pokémon Go and is following it to the letter.

All Remote Raid Pass price increases will occur on April 6 at 11PM PT, in conjunction with the purchase of the 3-Pack Battle Pass.
