Sam Smith deeply sorry for walking off stage after a few songs

Sam Smith has issued a statement after ‘devastating’ fans in Manchester on Wednesday.
The Unholy hitmaker, 31, was performing at AO Arena for their Gloria tour midweek, but according to fans taking to social media upset at the turn of events, proceedings were canceled after only a few songs.
Sam has now taken to Instagram themselves to share a statement and clarify why they left the stage early.
Expressing their deepest sympathies, Sam said their voice had given out and they’d been left with no choice but to cut the show short.
They wrote in a social media post: ‘Dearest sailors. I don’t know what to say honestly.
‘I fought off a virus a few weeks ago and since then we have traveled across Europe and had such incredible shows.’
Sam went on: ‘Today at soundcheck I felt fine and was so excited to give Manchester an amazing show tonight, with a special surprise at the end during my third song, I noticed something wrong with my voice.’
They added: ‘I prayed it was just my voice waking up for the show but into the fourth song I could feel something was really wrong I came off stage and have tried everything to get my voice back in gear but it won’t I am honestly heartbroken I couldn’t finish the show tonight for you all.’
Sam concluded their message: ‘I love you all. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.’
Videos from the night showed crowds loitering around the stadium and slowly leaving with the lights after the abrupt stop.
One concerned fan, who filmed the sad scene, wrote: ‘Sam Smith show in Manchester has been canceled due to their voice – hope everything is okay.’
Another fan filmed themselves leaving the concert, saying: ‘It makes absolutely no sense, he sounded stunning I thought.’
